Alcohol Research UK invites applications for its studentships for postgraduate research. These aim to encourage research in the alcohol field and to improve the quality of service provided for those with drinking problems. Postgraduate research studentships fund up to three students to undertake research in the alcohol field leading to a PhD. The research proposal should address one of the following priority areas:
•identification, treatment and recovery;
•policy and culture change;
•marketing and media;
•information and education;
•developing research methods.
Proposals outside of these areas may be considered if they are particularly innovative. All proposals are strongly encouraged to consider drinking across the lifecourse and in a range of settings.
Application is open to UK universities. The applying university must be willing to jointly fund or have an offer of joint funding from an appropriate organisation before they can apply.
Studentships are worth up to £7,000 per year for a maximum of three years.
