The Scottish Government’s Scottish Enterprise invites enquiries for participation in its International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone. This aims to bring together businesses and academia by stimulating co-location, innovation, and investment in Scotland’s offshore renewable energy sector. ITREZ enables companies to work alongside a growing number of key industry, innovation, supply chain and manufacturing partners, providing opportunities to network with industry partners, academia and public sector in order to engage in collaborative projects.
Companies are able to access academia, graduates, laboratories and research areas focused on industry needs, as well as the University of Strathclyde, the Energy Technology Partnership and the Scottish Energy Laboratory. ITREZ has the following two purpose-build buildings for collaborative research:
•inovo – accommodates companies operating in the renewable energy and related industries, especially those intending to participate in the research programmes at the neighbouring Technology and Innovation Centre, and encourages collaboration between tenants and small- and medium-sized enterprises, supply chain, and innovative companies to be located closer to the larger industry players within ITREZ;
•Technology and Innovation Centre – encourages consortia using innovative new approaches, with multidisciplinary project teams formed to combine the university’s strengths in engineering, science, business, humanities and the social sciences, in order to develop new technologies for the renewable energy sector, including sectors such as energy, manufacturing, health and future cities.
