The Economic and Social Research Council invites applications for its training bursaries. These enable staff in the UK social science community who are engaged in research, teaching research methods or supervising research to update their research skills. In addition, bursaries aim to improve the standards of research methods and stimulate the uptake of high-quality training courses in research methods.
Social scientists in current employment and contract researchers working in higher education institutions may apply. Applicants may apply for a bursary for training courses outside of the UK but must demonstrate that the training in question cannot be provided in the UK. Bursaries are not normally provided for attendance at conferences, but may be provided for attendance at training courses that are run as part of a conference.
Bursaries are worth up to £1,000 each. Applicants can apply for more than one course per year but these must not total more than £1,000 in any one year. Master’s or doctoral studies are not supported.
