The Wellcome Trust’s Public Engagement Fund replaces its Society, People, Large Arts, Small Arts, Development, Co-production, Capital and International Engagement Awards. It is designed to support good ideas for engaging the public in conversations about health-related science and research by funding activities, projects, creative spaces, people and organisations.
- Enable the public to explore health-related science and research in ways that are relevant to them.
- Take an inventive approach, expand on existing work or offer a new perspective on a subject.
- Meet the Trust’s public engagement vision.
The fund is open to anyone, including those working in the arts, entertainment media, museums and heritage, leisure, sport and tourism, education and informal learning, and the community, charity and public sectors. Organisations applying do not need to have science and health as their core activity. Teams should have the right expertise to develop and deliver the activity and this should include a subject expert, eg a researcher in a science or health-related discipline, or a health professional. This expert can lead the activity, be a collaborator or take on an advisory role.
Proposals for grants of £25,000 to £250,000 to be considered in the March 2019 round should be submitted through the Wellcome Trust Grant Tracker system by the deadline of 26 March 2019.
To request a grant of over £250,000 and up to £3 million, applicants should email an expression of interest. These can be sent at any time.
